When one speaks of Wall of Shadows, the concept of synergy is most readily applicable. The individuals that make up the band Wall of Shadows all bring something special to the mix. The eclectic background of each member contributes to the ultimate sound and direction of the band. Originated in Orange County, California, the members got together after their day jobs to forge something that was missing on the scene: a true, party time band with a pop feel and hard edge.
Using their background in technology, the band members have taken pains to thoughtfully apply modern tools to augment their stage sound. Using sequencing and electronic backing in a seamless way, they showcase the material and give their audience a rich, sonic experience. The instrumentalists are therefore able to perform over a backdrop that rivals studio-produced music.
The party pop comes from a desire to build an audience of positive people, in an upbeat environment, regardless of venue. This is achieved through a rhythmic groove from Dave on bass and Martin on the Roland electric or Acoustic drum kits. Martin is also the technical wizard that creates the sequencing for the band. With the harmonies of Randy, Mike and Dave, the gloss of the sound becomes apparent. The hard edge comes from the soul of the players.
The desire to stretch the boundaries of power pop is manifested by adding the elements of punk and metal. Mike and Crushr (aka Marco) add a dose of rage and fire to the overall sound that compliments without overpowering. This is best heard in their interpretation of punk, ska current power pop tunes. The result is a unique blend of top 40 and gutsy rock.
