Details:
In 1994, former heavy metal musician Joe Famulare and classical flutist, Christine Famulare decided to pursue their shared passion for acoustic music and formed what was to be for twelve years, Pointless Forest (now Wandering Folk). Although a far cry from their days as performer, songwriters, and business managers for heavy metal groups, and the more conservative world of the classical genre, the collective experiences in in the performance, songwriting and music business provided the duo with all the tools necessary to create a performing duo to endure the test of time. Joe Famulare has played and taught guitar for over twenty five years and has performed with numerous groups, including Terminal Reign from 1989 to 1994. A singer and songwriter, and guitarist, Joe attended Onondaga Community College as a guitar major. A classically trained flutist Christine Famulare received her AAS in music from Onondaga Community College and attended College of St. Rose, majoring in studio engineering. In addition to her major instrument, Christine sings, plays saxophone, bass guitar and harmonica. Christine and Joe co-write Wandering Folk''s songs. Both Joe and Christine managed central New York bands including Terminal Reign, signed to Los Angeles, California based Azra International in 1992. In addition to managing and booking, the duo owned the now dissolved ASCAP- registered Cellar Demon Publishing Company. Influenced by an eclectic mix of artists such as, among many others, Arlo Guthrie, Peter, Paul & Mary, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Woody Guthrie and Jean Pierre Rampal, Wandering Folk provides a blend of acoustic music that incorporates traditional folk music with a fresh twist that keeps the listener comfortably entertained. Wandering Folk''s "acoustic alternative folk" style encompasses: 1. The familiar: traditional folk songs that anyone from age five to ninety five can sing - audience participation always encouraged! 2. The unexpected: instrumentation - add a smoking flute solo to the already polished guitar work, harmonica and lush vocal harmonies...the icing on the cake!! 3. Originality: unequaled songwriting - from spirituals to storytelling through lyrics, there''s something to touch every audience member! Wandering Folk''s thirteen year evolution has included a name change, the opportunity to work with other talented musicians and the "random meetings and goodbyes" associated with performing for an awesome array of people in a diverse mix of venues
