Details:
During the recording of the Debut Wave Pool album, the band still didn’t have a name until about half way into the project when founder Chad Holland came up with the idea of Wave Pool. And though the name brings to mind of images of the water park, bikinis, farmer tans, arm floaties, and of course the wave pool, that''s not what the name is in reference to.

Wave Pool is meant to personify waves of music, thoughts, emotions, passion, experiences and pieces of life pooled together and embodied in song, Infused with rock, acoustic rock and a dash of folk rock. Chad has an enjoyably new and unique sounding voice. Wave Pool’s sound and vibe is one listener’s find they identify with and feel drawn into.

Wave Pool was officially formed in late 2005 after lead man Chad Holland recruited long time friend and drummer Jared Ragozzine to work on songs Chad had written, with the end goal of producing a full length album. Jared had drum training since age 12 and played in several local bands performing and touring locally and in nearby states, which helped him hone his talent, skill, and style as a drummer.

Jared soon suggested recruiting bass player, Jon Chase, whom he had known for a little over a year knowing that Jon had a number of years experience playing the bass and thought that he could add some great bass lines to the songs. So the three got together to Jam and really hit it off and the three began working together on Chad’s songs.

Recording on the debut album, titled Carpe Diem, began in the summer of 2006 and ended up taking a number of months due to how busy band members schedules were with school, work, family, and other engagements. Recording carried on into early 2007 when Chad started thinking he wanted to add some piano tracks to some of the songs.

After having several conversations with a co-worker, Lani Mari Hyer, about music and learning that she was quite the talented pianist, Chad asked Lani if she would be open to the idea of adding some piano tracks to a number of songs for the album. Lani happily agreed to see what she could come up with for the songs and ended up adding backing piano tracks to 7 of the 11 songs on the album, helping to fill out the band’s sound and adding a great element to the songs.

Chad took on producing, recording, and mixing the album himself having no prier engineering or mixing experience. After a long learning curve he finally called the recording and mixing done and had then had the album mastered by Greg Duckwitz of Orpheus Sound Studios in Orem Utah.

The band’s sound has been said to have some similar sounds to the Goo Goo Dolls, and Lifehouse, yet have a sound all their own. The independent project was released on December 8, 2007.
