Dan Walker and the Sky are touring in support of their debut album, Night Owl, which features the band''s enticing blend of music that will most definitely echo through the mountains. Born in a trailer park somewhere in Texas after his parents met in Denver, Dan Walker spent most of his childhood playing classical piano & solving complex math problems for fun. After mastering those arts, he got himself a good guitar & moved to New Orleans, where he cut some classes at Tulane & started planting the roots of his career as a singer/songwriter and musician in the rich soil of jazz & funk legendary shoes leave behind in niches & alleys throughout the Crescent City. He got a sheet of paper with a degree stamped on it & spent a brief time incarcerated in a corporation before making a jailbreak to wander lonely Texas highways in search of the right sound. In 1999, that sound developed & manifested itself in a stop with a 5-piece rock band based in Dallas... Mellowship. As principal singer & songwriter in the band, Dan produced both original material and new incarnations of songs by musicians as diverse as the Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Widespread Panic, The Talking Heads & Willie Nelson. Recently featured as one of the bands to watch in Relix magazine, Mellowship spent four years rocking the house in Texas clubs & bars, building a strong following & opening for the likes of Garaj Mahal, Larry, Olospo & Moses Guest. Now at the age of 27, the journeyman''s highway stretches into the mountains of Colorado, where Dan Walker''s sound gets an infusion of crisper air. In September, Dan won the Acoustic Blues Competition at the 2004 Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. Dan has already performed acoustic and full band gigs opening for Kan''Nal, Outformation, Bloodkin & Jerry Joseph up in the mountains, & whether it''s as the front man for a full-fledged rock band, or just alone with his guitar and harmonica, Dan Walker''s songs are unique, simple, mature...songs directed at the songwriter in everyone.
