At a typical Lally family gathering, Anjanel''s mother, played the piano and sang while the rest of the family joined in. Little Anjanel, then only two, walked up, grabbed the microphone from someone, and began to sing. It was as if she knew exactly what to do. Anjanel loved to sing and loved music, just like her mom. Growing up, Anjanel seized every opportunity to sing; her grade school programs, leading the singing at church with her family, and at every piano recital her mom ever hosted, or, for just anyone that would listen. When the local Radio Station held a talent contest, Anjanel was there. Now 8 years old, she placed 3rd against contestants from 8 to 80! While a sophomore in high school, a close friend of Anjanel’s introduced her to Country music. She was immediately hooked! Even though Anjanel had sung all of her life, it was at this time she had a new passion for singing Country music. All through high school and college Anjanel was an active member in the school choirs and performed in anything she could find. At 18, Anjanel found a new love in writing original music.
After graduating from Illinois State University and receiving a bachelor''s degree in art with a concentration in graphic design, she went to work for the Eureka Company as a graphic designer. Her heart still fixed on music, she soon met other employees with the same interests and before long they were playing and singing as a group. They began putting on shows in the back of a garage where other employees and neighbors gathered to cheer them on.
Anjanel has continued to perform at any venue she could find which included various local musical productions. In 2002, Anjanel began singing the National Anthem at various events, including, Illinois State University Basketball and Volleyball, Bloomington (IL) Extreme Arena Football, Bloomington (IL) Prairie Thunder Hockey and The Peoria Chiefs, a minor league baseball team for the Chicago Cubs, as well as many more.
In August of 2004, Anjanel mustered up the courage to audition for American Idol, held in https://www.tradebit.comis, MO. The local radio station, WJBC , picked up on the story and called her at the contest for an “on the scene” interview. Although Anjanel did not make it to the next round, WJBC did a follow-up interview in which she was asked to sing “Walking After Midnight” the song she chose to audition with. The DJs told her not to stop singing!
It was soon after this, that Anjanel became a member of the ICMA
(Illinois Country Music Assoc.). This was a great stepping stone for her. Since joining, Anjanel has met many, very talented, musicians. “ I never cease to be amazed at the amount of talent in this small community,” Anjanel has commented. In addition to meeting many talented people, she has also had the priviledge to perform for many great audiences. The ICMA has given her the opportunity to sing at many of their events. This has helped open the door for singing opportunities at area opry houses, as well as festivals. Infact this past summer Anjanel sang at the Taste of Chicago, Spoon River Festival and the Red Carpet Corridor Route 66 Festival, just to name a few.
The highlight of 2007 came when Anjanel was awarded the North American Country Music Association International''s Horizon award for Female Entertainer of the Year and Rising Star award for Female Vocalist of the year in New/Modern Gospel.
This past summer, Anjanel made it into the studio to record her first full length original cd, entitled "Road Trip." After many months in the studio the cd was finally completed at the end of 2007. The cd has a diverse mix of Country and Contemporary Christian music.
Anjanel would like to thank her husband, family and friends for being so supportive with her music. “This would be very hard to do if I did not have the support of my family and friends. It is so nice to know that they are as excited about this as I am.”
