Details:
Four Dimensions is a quartet written by Danji Buck-Moore for Violin, Viola, Tenor Saxophone, and Fender Rhodes electric piano for his Senior Project at the Watershed Community School in Rockland, Maine.

The goal for the project was fourfold:
1) to complete the composition of the piece
2) to perform it in a live concert setting
3) to complete a written paper describing the piece and the process
4) to record the piece so as to have a permanent audio record of the project

They were all completed.

The instrumentalists for the project were Josie Davis, Violin, Lizzy Moore, Viola, Peter Van Siclen, Tenor Saxophone, and composer Danji Buck-Moore, Fender Rhodes.

Four Dimensions was premiered on May 11, 2007, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, in Rockland, Maine, as part of a benefit concert for the Watershed Community School with pianist Glenn Jenks.

Following the success of that performance the group was booked for another performance on June 10, 2007, at the Rockland Congregational Church. This performance was also a great success.

The group recorded the piece in June 2007 with Rush DeNooyer at Moody Mountain Studios in Hope, Maine. It was also mixed there by Rush, Josie, and Danji in September 2007.

Recordings of both live performances also exist.

My hope is that through this finished studio recording, the paper hard-copy of the piece, and people’s memories of the two live performances, the music of Four Dimensions will always be available to look back on, remember, and enjoy.

I also hope, at some time in the future, to have the privilege of hearing another group with the tenacity and interest to tackle the piece perform it, or to perform it again myself.

To obtain a playable score to play from if you like it, the final paper, or for any other information, please contact Danji Buck-Moore.

Thanks for your interest in the project.

Most sincerely,

Danji Buck-Moore
