BUSKER U-- ELM STREET FIELD RECORDINGS

A few years ago, Peter Spang Goodrich went to see Michelle Shocked at Club Passim. Before the show, she was dining with an old friend. During the show, Michelle called Michael Sullivan up from the audience to accompany her on the guitar. Needless to say, the artistic chemistry between the two was awesome. Spang was intrigued and a few months later went to see activist Michelle at a fund raiser for the World Social Forum at the Middle East. Michael was waiting for Michelle at the stage entrance. Spang asked him if by chance he gave guitar lessons. Michael said he did. And so a magical musical mystery cruise along the Harmony River began.

Michael''s stage moniker is the Rev. Busker, well earned since he has taken a Harvard divinity course to enhance his work with Bostons homeless. Plus, he is one of the most accomplished buskers (street musicians) in the world. Not to be outdone, Spang decided he needed a stage name too. His dad had called him Doktor Krankheit. He asked German-American folksinger Antje Duvekot for her opinion. Antje laughed loudly at the irony. Krankheit, you see, is the opposite of gesundheit (good health).

Lisa and Ed Jurewicz of Mr. J''s Music Shop were so very kind and gave Doktor Krankheit that beautiful 1956 Harmony Archtone pictured on the cover and used in harmony on track ten "Lazy Days". Plus, they put him in touch with two musical geniuses -- Annie Raines (harmonicist extraordinaire) and Paul Rishell (brilliant teacher and guitar maestro - even if he tried to REFORM the pig-headed Dr. K! Special thanks also to Steve Sidhly and Tom at Mr. Music of Allston. Both have been so kind and helpful especially setting up the Harmony and the 1959 Gibson ES-125 which the Rev. Busker is playing on the cover.
