After a three decade friendship, two San Francisco Bay Area musicians, Jeff Buenz (guitar) and Denny Berthiaume (piano), decided to form a DUO devoted to their own compositions and individual arrangements of standards. Their debut cd, LOVE YA MEAN IT!, was released in December 2007.
Jeff Buenz has enjoyed a varied career in music as producer, recording artist, composer, arranger, and educator. He was a California Arts Council "Artist in Residence" for 9 years. He has performed and/or recorded with Stanley Turrentine, Flora Purim, Airto Moreira, and Toninho Horta. Jeff works as a CMP (Certified Music Practioner) in Bay Area hospitals.
Denny Berthiaume has performed with Bobby McFerrin, Diane Schuur, Joe Williams, and Ed Thigpen. He recorded 4 albums as co-leader of the successful fusion group Solar Plexus. He has appeared at jazz festivals in Monterey, the Russian River, San Jose, and San Miguel de Allender, Mexico. He is emeritus professor in literature and music at Foothill College, Los Altos, CA. His current cds include 2 solo piano works--SUMMER WISHES/WINTER DREAMS, and ONE FOR THE ROAD--and the debut cd by "The Trio": PRAYER FOR PEACE. All recordings available through cdbaby.
