Lars and fellow musician Akimbo d'' Abuto released their first collaborative CD Esperando in 2002 and it remains available in the CD Baby music library. A cool and breezy jazz-blues compilation that was well received in New England and South Carolina for it''s smooth vocals and get hooked on melodies.
Lars then decided to record a personal CD intended to capture musical sounds as heard by him. He was hopeful that the CD would perhaps become a musical path for the listener to find a retreat to another place where the nuance of possibilities beyond the daily routine would be a transformational moment of quiet and reflection.
The result was Click Stone. A work that is guitar and synth flavored intended to shift mood, time and place. A common journey yet one that is mystical in it''s desire to take risks as described in the musical, poetic story heard on the song Buddhas Window. Much time was put into the harmonic layering of the human voice to create a unique musical tableau that often sounds like off planet instruments.
An unexpected dimension to the story of the making of Click Stone, Lars began to experience changes in his life that greatly affected his thought processes and cognitive skills. The diagnosis, certainly earlier in life than one would anticipate was "suspected Lewy Body Dementia". Lewy Body Dementia accounts for 20% of all dementia cases (800,000 folks) and 50% of all Parkinson''s patients (750,000 folks). It ranks #2 behind Alzhiemers, which most folks have certainly heard of.
As one would expect life is different at this point in time but the desire to remain creative remains. It comes down to adapting and pushing through when daily life matters seem overwhelming. Certainly, learning by necessity has been that of living each day as focused as possible and forget the small matters that in the past appeared to be of such importantance.
