Mordechai Cohen has played jazz piano all of his adult life. In addition to his original works in the jazz genre, represented here, he has composed and published modern classical music for varied intstrumental and vocal combinations. His musical career path has been a varied mix of playing every form of "gig", teaching privately and at pre-college (Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division for over thirty years), community college and university level. In addition, as a second career undertaken at a later stage of his life, he became a tenant activist in the New York City landlord/tenant struggles of the ''80s, and went on to get a law degree and practice eviction prevention law in the New York City housing courts with Legal Services for New York, a not for profit law firm offering free legal assistance to the needy.
