Octavio Bio
Octavio is a Miami-based singer and composer. Originally from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, he released a successful bachata album in 1998. Most recently, he has been creating and singing songs in his own unique style of Latin pop seamlessly fusing elements of flamenco, salsa, Spanish rock, pop ballads, and reggaeton - and yet still staying true to his Dominican roots. Octavio is proud to announce that his track Pido Perdon has been selected for Billboard Magazines 2005 Latin Music Quarterly 2 CD. Its no surprise that Octavio gravitated toward music at an early age. His father, legendary bassist Manuel Patxot (who played with everyone from Xavier Gugat to Tito Puente) was constantly playing classic Latin sounds around the house - first, growing up in the Dominican Republic, and later, when the family moved to Massachusetts. Inspired by the rich musical influence of his dad, Octavio began singing and writing tunes at the age of 16. By the time he was 20, Octavio returned to the Dominican Republic, and recorded his debut album of bachatas, Triste y Afortunado. The CD received both airplay and critical success, but Octavio soon felt limited by the confines of playing only bachata, and would soon return to the United States. Now living in Miami, FL, Octavio began writing music that was true to his roots, and that would reach more people. Writing from his heart, he began crafting tunes featuring exotic Flamenco flourishes with a salsa drive; a Spanish rock edge with an unmistakable bachata influence, and even an up-to-the minute reggaeton all tied together with a serious pop flair. Inspired by Juan Luis Guerra and Luis Miguel like himself, singular artists who cover a lot of ground Octavio has carved out a sound truly his own. Recently signed as the first artist on the new independent Latin label, Diom Productions, Octavio will begin touring in support of his second CD, Historia de Amor, this fall. With his striking good looks, rich musical heritage, unique songs, and unforgettable voice and now with the instant credibility that comes with inclusion on the Billboard CD, Octavio is poised to become a big name in the Latin music world
