Playin’ Piano is Michael Pellera’s first solo CD playing compositions by Jeffrey Meyer. Michael and Jeffrey have collaborated as writers and producers on Johnny Vidacovich’s "Vidacovich," "Banks Street" and "Mystery Street" but this CD allows Michael to explore a wide range of genres as a solo performer using his powerful approach to the piano, his sensitive touch and his innovative, improvisational imagination. Jeffrey lays out a template of songs for Michael to explore, ranging from bop to stride to gentle melodies. This is a great New York/New Orleans collaboration in spirit, in friendship and in music.
