Details:
Point Valid is a location. It is the point in one’s life where everything has validity. A state of Nirvana if you will, an apex of a person''s existence. Point Valid was started in October of 2006 by Adam Leve(drums) and David Michelsohn(bass). The two wanted a band to play Beth Tfiloh battle of the bands. They recruited Max Vidaver to play guitar and Ari Esterson to do vocals. The night before the debut performance the band jammed with Hayim Ani on the vocals. At the show the band opened as ‘Fashionably Late’ a fairly heavy solo-less rock band with Ari at the helm. For the last song of their set, Hayim jumped in and preformed Creed’s One last Breath. The band decided to keep Hayim on for a scheduled November show at the Recher Theater in Towson under the name Point Valid. The name stumbled upon the band accidentally when someone rudely called ‘Fashionably Late’ a gay name. Adam noted the remark as a very valid point and thus the name was born. The Recher show went very well and the band played with Hayim on vocals singing songs that were even heavier than before. Yet something was born during the rehearsals for that show-a passion for ballads. The band comes from many different backgrounds and musical tastes yet beauty is beauty which everyone loved. The show had just been for fun and as far as everyone was concerned, it was back to school. One day not too long after, Adam sent Hayim a guitar riff that he had written and asked him to come up with some words for it. Later that week Hayim, Adam and Max who had been taught the riff played around with it and the ballad THE STORM was created. Hayim began writing leads and solos for the band and started permanently playing guitar for the band as well. The band churned out three more new songs each a little different than the others and written initially by different members. The now cocky band decided to financially split a trip to Invisible sound studios inc., to record a demo. The band went into studio a few times before the 4 track CD was finished as much as could be allowed with the budget at hand. Although the band was excited that they had a CD they knew its flaws and knew they could do much better. The Disc lay dormant and after two more scheduled shows at the Recher the band once again laid down their instruments. The summer began to roll around and Hayim declared an interest in writing and recording a full length conceptual album. Max and Adam couldn’t give the time or the money at that point so David and Hayim began writing and experimenting on their own. By the time June rolled around Hayim proposed the whole band get together to record the album. Max and Adam agreed, dates where schedualed and a track list was planned with some old songs and some new ones that Hayim and David had written. When the band started practicing, however, even newer songs were written and the track list was changed. The band’s first day in studio didn’t go as well as planned. The transition from basement, mindless, inaudible rehearsals to in a professional recording studio was rough. The band however pulled through and ended up writing some songs such as The End of Nothing while in studio. The 10 track album was completed The 13th of August 2007 and was christened Of Dreams and Memory. It is a compilation of old favorites of the band and new material that fits all types of genre of rock.
