Details:
My name is Timothy Schweiger. I’ve been playing music for about fifteen years.. I’m not at the top of my career but I’m still doing better than I was in eighth grade fronting Amazing Larry (named after a small character in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, still one of Tim Burton’s Finest moments) for $20 a show. Since I graduated high school I’ve been in some bands that put out some records on some neat labels (see the selected discography included below). I currently have an album of unreleased old songs alongside well cut, full band and acoustic demos called “Schwim Tiger“ that I’m looking to get label support for.

I’m trying to keep things moving on my own. This project is a three piece rock and roll band with a bit of blues and punk influence. The songs have big hooks. The lyrics are honest and simple. Each member of the Middle Men (Tim Schweiger/vocals/guitar, Tyler Ditter/Bass/vocals, and Amos Pitsch/drums/vocals) spent our adolescence obsessing over 1980’s/early 90’s power pop and punk. Later, in our early twenties, we began exploring the Mississippi delta blues movement and other songs from the old south. The result is smart bluesy rock (but not white boy Jim Blush style mind you) with pop sensibilities. We play songs that I write (though we all write) and sprinkle in a couple obscure covers for scene credibility.

My previous bands have been compared to the Replacements, Tom Petty, Soul Asylum and even early Green Day. Still, the Middle Men get more Black Keys and Big Star comparisons thrown at us if you really want to know. We don’t consciously subscribe to any trends, though you can lump us in with the “garage bands“, “indie blues revivalists,”, “replacements/faces wanna-be’s”, or anything else you may come up with in order to sell us to your cousin who’s never heard a Sonics record and is looking to piss off their parents. The live show that we put on is honest, high energy, self-deprecating entertainment. If you’re feeling down about yourself , watching three barely employable crumb-bums get paid to wax poetic all night might be what you need to realize that this world isn‘t as hard to stay afloat in as you might have once thought. Or it might make you feel worse. Either way, we don’t have gimmicks, light shows or wardrobe changes. We are just a tight, three piece band. Thanks for reading.
