Toledo, OH - Every so often an artist comes along that immediately commands your attention. Ty Wills is that artist. With over ten albums/mixtapes to his credit over the last four years, he is a veteran of the underground hip hop scene. He is polished, experienced and ready to be anointed. The self-proclaimed And 1 of Rap" is nothing short on confidence and has the skills to back it up. Blessed with an immaculate delivery, crafty lyrics and an effortless ability to create catchy songs, Wills is on a mission to take the music industry by storm.
Born (and raised) in Toledos'' RC (Rockingham) Block on November 16, 1979. Wills began distributing his own underground mixtapes throughout the streets of the T garnering him a devoted fan base that is loyal to this day. In 2001, wills touched down in Columbus, Ohio to begin his quest for fame and fortune. Ty immediately began to flood the streets with mixtapes written and produced himself. Utilizing that hustling mentality Wills sold thousands of mixtapes not only in Columbus but throughout Ohio at car shows, talent shows, concerts, etc. To date, he has sold upwards of 20,000 mixtapes on the streets of Ohio. No small feat for one man. In 2003, Ty would take his ambitions a step further and create his own label, and open his own Stay Beat Studios. Taking on multiple roles within the studio, he produces, engineers, writes, arranges, and coaches new artists through every aspect of recording.
Wills has also been tabbed to open up for some of Hip Hops biggest artists, namely: Ludacris, Beanie Seigel, Memphis Bleek, Freeway, Mike Jones, Lil Wayne, Squad Up as well as performing a set on the Bad Boy No Way Out Tour throughout the Midwest. The buzz in the streets is so big for Ty that many of the artist that come through Ohio stop by Stay Beat Studios to record and check out his catalog: Juelz Santana, Cadillac Tah, Squad Up, Chris & Neef, Bizzy Bone to name a few. In fact, Wills produced, recorded, and mixed several tracks on Bizzy Bone''s last album Speakin In Tongues and is currently working with Bizzy readying his next offering. He also recorded a number of tracks for Squad Ups last few mixtapes that have been circulating in mass amounts throughout the country.
Currently, Ty is enjoying the success of his latest offering, the Man On Fire EP and his last mixtape American Street Idol with the hits On Chrome and the On Chrome Remix in which he was able to sell to Lil Flip and also features Flip and Squad Up. Both tracks are commanding a lot of airplay throughout the Midwest and the South. He is also readying two more albums set to drop this year, The Duke Boyz and the highly anticipated Wills of Fortune.
