Andy Gabrys Music is proud to announce the release of Andy Gabrys’ first solo release, Constant. With his impressionistic music for jazz trio and his highly anticipated debut release of 8 original compositions, Andy Gabrys is taking his place as an innovative voice in today’s jazz music scene.
Constant was recorded at Peter Karl Studios in Brooklyn, NY with engineer Jonathan Townes. Playing with Andy on the album are NYC bassist Daniel Loomis and drummer Brian Adler. Andy grew up on the West Coast of Canada, in the town of Chilliwack. He learned how to play guitar in high school, and gigged around BC in various bands while at the same time spending many hours on the water, surfing and kayaking on BC''s beautiful waterways.
After working for years as a successful mine planning engineer for Myra Falls Operations, Breakwater Resources Ltd., he decided to take his passion for music to the next level. In 2002 he received a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and graduated Summa Cum Laude in Jazz Composition in December 2004.
Andy has performed with jazz greats Rufus Reid and Hugh Fraser, and has worked as a sideman to entertainers Tony Tillman, Richie Sachs, Denise Marsa, and Herb Reed and the Platters.
Now living in Brooklyn, New York with his wife Jennifer, Andy is producing music for television commercials and educational films for clients such as Harvard University, and WO30 Records. In 2007 he recorded music for the indie films, The Motel Room, Fiesta Grand and Barrio Thief, and guitar work can be heard on TV commercials for Knorr Soup, produced by JSM Music
In addition to his talents as a performer and composer/arranger, Andy is an experienced instructor, having taught guitar privately since 1988. His transcriptions of guitar music have appeared in Just Jazz Guitar Magazine.
Andy says about Constant, “It has been a true labor of love, and I often times wondered if I would ever be able to finish the recording. I am constantly humbled by some of the great jazz artists that have influenced me and am grateful for the opportunity to be presenting my work and especially proud of my first release. I’m really here.”
