Details:
Claudio Zanghieri has served well over the years, with his taste and team-sense, many projects in the Usa, Italy and Germany, following the principle of supporting the music so that its message goes across without unnecessary obstacles.
A well-grounded musician and accomplished bassist (he plays every known bass stringed-instrument: electrics, acoustic, synthesized and more), on his own project he followed his principles of keeping the music flowing and free of any possible expectation. He presents here his various artistic sides always putting music before personal performance, choosing a band approach to realize this first solo effort. From this perspective, very dear to the leader, you can hear a live and organic sound that evolves through the cd titles.

“Envisions” strives to catch the essence of the jazz-funk legacy while exploring some uncharted territories and choices to search for a future development of the music itself. “This is what it’s all about, music is a joint effort and the envision of a sound scape is the burning force behind a project like this” says the leader, staying strong behind his principles of honoring the past and searching for a development to his inspirations.
You’ll experience the beauty of real, vintage and acoustic sounds alongside some experimental and unusual settings going through many styles from jazz to funk or reggae, presenting what the leader conceives as “today’s music, it has a bit of everything in it, the foundation of the past with its solid, satisfying character and the edgy, unsettling feeling of something new”.

From the compelling funk of “Never Alone” and “Let’s Go”, the engaging jazz of “Decisions” and the surprising reggae of “Little Sun” to the more futuristic “Sahara” and “Envisions” and the daunting “Sabina”; this cd leaves us, the listeners, with a thirst for the next step into this world of envisions.

Bass Musician Magazine, Reviewer Damian Erskine
"I''ve been hearing mention of Claudio for some time now online in various bass related forums and networking sites. First, it''s a wonderful looking CD. Top notch design and presentation. But.... If you''re looking for a new bass-wanker album....this ain''t it (thankfully!). Don''t get me wrong, the playing is great!...musicality and composition seems to be the goal here. A very nice album. The writing is solid, very well done, and the band sounds great. Claudio''s playing is very studied and appropriate. He never tries to stand out at the expense of the song, which I love to hear. I applaud Claudio''s musical maturity and look forward to hearing more from him in years to come."

“..Bassist Claudio Zanghieri has a strong hold on the vocabulary of emotions. His sound oriented compositions are of splendid color. Static and dynamic structures flow one after the other and breath into his tunes a living emotion. Meanwhile the bassist does not let his instrument dictate any technical limits and uses the bass as a rhythmic or lead instrument or as a experimental sound generator.
Through the use of loops he interacts in a polyphonic way with himself and in spite of all this he has no fear of taking on the traditional role of the bass.”

Uri Caine (pianist, NYC)
"dear Claudio, Thanks for your letter. I listened to your music and enjoyed it very much! Nice compositions and great playing. Good luck in your music!!! Thanks"

Bruce Gertz (Teacher, Berklee College of Music):
"Claudio, I totally enjoy your CD. The writing and playing is fresh and strong. It''s expressive and the grooves are great, naturally. Congratulations!

Something on me:

He began playing in his twenties in Rome.
In 1990 he was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There he spent the next 3 years graduating, Magna cum Laude, in 1993.

Back home he toured Italy extensively for 3 years with a known R&B-funk band, and recording their cd “Everything” in 1995. Meanwhile he was working as a freelance bassist for live shows, mainly singer songwriters, also for Marina Rei, Simone Cristicchi, Tony Bungaro, Marco Morandi, etc. and for recording studios, doing soundtrack work for the M° Louis Bacalov (Oscar winner) and the M° Franco Micalizzi (TV and jingles).

While keeping a busy schedule in Italy, producing music, recording and playing with Fabio Mariani (“Nadi” on UM Records, 2003), Jim Kelly and Luigi Tessarollo, appearing regularly at the Umbria Jazz Festival since 1993 and many other projects; in 1998 he moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where he still resides.
He is busy as a bassist playing/recording with Joo Krauss, Torsten DeWinkel, Tony Lakatos, Michael Sagmeister, Dave Pike (Usa), Christian Lohr (https://www.tradebit.comne,https://www.tradebit.comnini), Marco Minnemann (https://www.tradebit.commidt,https://www.tradebit.comnini), Christoph Spendel, etc.

He found time to concentrate on his own writing, producing and solo career, releasing his first solo cd “Envisions”, through JazzSick Records.
He was featured at the german European Bass Day 2005 and again in 2006, in a more electronica influenced setting. A direction in which he is trying to merge his jazz-fusion roots with the new sounds and possibilities of live recording and processing. He performs more and more on stage with effects and computer. All of his new projects include more or less a bit of electronica in them.
