Details:
"Walkabout" is the 2nd albumrelease of Swiss guitarslinger Cuthead.
Written and produced all by himself, it comes along with real drums this time and is by far his most honest record up till now.
Containing a hearty Rock/ Blues/ Fusionmix, the tunes reach from soft, mellow Solo-improvisations up to fully arranged highspeed orgies, performed on vintage Stratocasters most of the time.
Since also working as Studioguitarplayer in different genres, it was the intention of the artist to keep this record as direct and pure as possible, keeping all the little unexpected things instead of trying to play "perfect" and most of all to improvise as much as possible.
Although its a very important (and helpful) thing in everyday live of sessionplayers to be "in the pocket" or play in the style of...., it sometimes takes away the personal approach to the music.
Not on this recording here, its VERY PERSONAL.

The opener "Trippin" is a soulful, bluesy tribute to the great Robin Trower, beautiful melody performed with a big fat Strattone.
The follow up "Fonk" takes some unexpected changes along the way, going from fonk to progressiv rock and back, spiced up with a blistering solotake at the end of the song.
"Flying Cowboy" is the burning uptempo thing. Starts off with a slightly oriental melody in the beginning, goes through different solosections and seems to literally explode at the end with a ultrafast outtake.

The next two tunes show some different moods and sounds, more nasty and rough. The first one, "The swinging sink" is a short solopiece in the style of Jimi Hendrix but with a more adventurous harmonic concept to it. A nice unaccompained solostatement followed by "https://www.tradebit.com", basically Blues, with a melody in between like out of nowhere and some very laid back, snappy soloplaying that shows some great sound nuances of the Stratocaster. Very much fun tune this one, special guest on guitar is the great Nikolai Tsonev (UK). Yeah!

"Walkabout" shows off some nice harmonic excursions in the extended solosection in the middle of the song. Fusion at its best. Pumping groove while the guitar is flying trough the changes on to "Nagging", a jammin tune
with Sco-like fills and the only acoustic solo on the CD.

Starting off with soft key layers, "Freefall" is a 2:32 solo Jazz improvisation, very open and calm, could be a filmsoundtrack...followed by the Satriani-like "Nevermind" and a moody grooving "Chillfactor", taking it to the nightclub.
The Solopiece "Home" ends this truly amazing instrumental journey of guitarmusic. Inspiring, inventive and yet entertaining, trying to explore new territories.

Simply honest guitarmusic!!
