This multi-talented musician has established a reputation as a powerful, earthy roots-rock singer, a talented guitarist and distinctive songwriter. She''s won a loyal audience for her ability to craft songs about the Chesapeake Bay to include elements of rock, blues, R&B, pop, country and gospel into a distinctly individual style that has earned her the accolade of “musical Nirvana.”
“Chesapeake,” Dove''s first album and her first for her own label, Island Girl Records, marked a substantial statement in presenting Dove in the role of interpreting her life on the Chesapeake Bay. She puts an unmistakably personal spin on this set of songs that also draws a universal feeling of living anywhere on any body of water. "What I was going for was to make a record that showcased my influences and diverse style through-out my music career to date.” The title track, “Chesapeake" is used as the theme song for radio and film. "Chesapeake" was also released on a 2005 compilation disc entitled, "Songs of the Chesapeake Bay.”
Deanna got an itch to travel and in November of 2006, formulated a musical tour from North Carolina to Florida. After that month of touring, Deanna was then bitten by the travel bug, so she returned home and packed her bags for Nashville to find the perfect partner and producer. In January 2007, she met Zig, and began a great friendship as well as an intense 7 1/2 week long recording project. Deanna and Zig went right to work recording Deanna''s childhood roots into the gospel CD, entitled “Rock of My Roots” and begun the recording of Deanna''s favorite Christmas songs. After the completion of these two projects, Deanna wanted to record her fan''s favorite cover tunes, but Zig would not hear of this. He persuaded Deanna to write and record ten new original songs that became yet another new CD to add to her label, entitled “Peace, Love & Crabs.”
“Peace, Love & Crabs” was released on September 8, 2007; “Rock of My Roots” was released on October 11, 2007; and “Merry Christmas, Dahling!” greets the 2007 Christmas season.
Dove performs in her hometown in an activist role in support of public awareness for restoring and preserving the Chesapeake Bay. Dove is also interested in supporting issues for a cleaner environment and issues of domestic violence.
