Details:
Shortly after the terrorist attacks of 9/11, emberghost vocalist/guitarist Daineal Parker spent the night in a Wyoming rest stop in the back of his truck, curled up with The Collective Works of Poe. The long drive ahead, over the continental divide, through the Rocky Mountains and the endless cornfields of Kansas, to the eventual destination of Carmel, Indiana, left Edgar Allan''s words echoing in Parker''s head, and the name emberghost was born.

The band had just recorded a two-song demo, earning themselves a spot on the following summer''s TomFest bill in Stevenson, Washington, alongside The Death Campaign and The Beautiful Mistake. But Parker''s absence led to an eventual disbanding of the group, but upon returning to Oregon, he was determined to perform the festival he had attended since he was a kid, and began a mission to recruit new members. It wouldn''t be until three years later that the lineup would be complete.

Café Delirium in Gresham, Oregon had a thriving Friday-night rock scene where a band called A Step Beyond Deception were regulars. The band were fans of the then defunct emberghost, and asked Parker to play keys for them; he agreed, upon the condition that they would perform TomFest with him- as emberghost.

As rehearsing for two bands became more and more burdensome, ASBD bassist Daniel Alden and drummer David Lindsey decided emberghost would be a more worthy endeavor, and thus emberghost was reborn as a trio.

"The music was darker, and its sound stood on its own, rather than fitting the mold of whatever trend was popular at the time." Says Alden.

New songs were written, new recordings made, a name was being built, and the search for a guitarist and keyboardist was on. Meanwhile the boys of emberghost established on online presence, and earned more than 100,000 downloads on Kazaa with an early recording of "Enemy." They didn''t know it at the time, but the commitment to the music would help attract the individuals that would take the group to the next level.

Guitarist Sean Cochran: "emberghost was freakin'' rad, and I had been listening to their music for a long time, so I jumped at the opportunity to be a part of what they were doing."

Sean added a whole new element of musicianship, relieving the burden on Parker which allowed him to focus more on vocals. Sean joined in March, 2003, just as the boys were wrapping up recording on their debut EP "Meet Me on the Battlefield." His contributions actually delayed its release, as they booked more time in the studio to record the new sound he helped create. The EP was finally released in November, 2004, and the band headed to Salt Lake City to perform the material at the Hard Rock Cafe for record label reps. Soon after, Sean quit his job at Starbucks.

The previous January, Parker had seen a band called A Stand at Vienna, fronted by vocalist Sarah Jennings, perform at the Meow Meow where he ran the café. More than a year later, he and Sean were tossing names around, discussing who could perform the female vocal parts for the upcoming studio sessions on "The Anti-Scene EP." Parker mentioned the band he had seen, and Sean instantly recognized the name. Once Sarah was contacted, the boys learned that A Stand at Vienna had broken up, and that she had seen emberghost perform only a few days earlier and it made her want to be in a band again. She quit her job, dropped out of school, and hopped on a bus, riding two hours to meet the boys. Once Sarah''s vocal tracking began, everyone knew the final piece of the lineup had been found.

"The attitude was so positive and the commitment level was higher than I had seen from any other band. They stood on their own musically, and their sound benefited from it... Becoming a part of it made more sense to me than anything else I was doing with my life."

emberghost has currently finished recording their follow-up to "Meet Me on the Battlefield" with "The Anti-Scene EP" and are awaiting the completion of duplication. They will perform their CD release show at the Roseland Theatre in Portland this May and expect to sell out their first shipment, and attract over 1,000 locals. Their previous performances have attracted more than 800. emberghost has more than 10,000 MySpace friends, 80,000 plays on https://www.tradebit.com, and 500,000 downloads on Kazaa. They have shared a stage with acts such as Crossfade, Strata, Dead Poetic, Haste the Day, Relient K, Demon Hunter, The Death Campaign, Beautiful Mistake, and more. Their biggest influences range from U2 and The Smashing Pumpkins to Unearth and Killswitch Engage.
