This CD captures the feeling of a concert program I presented in 2007. The location for this recording is the rich and spacious Kunen Theater at the Levine School of Music in Washington, D.C., where I serve as a member of the piano faculty. Kunen is a wonderful recital hall that loves the sound of the Steinway, creating an airy, luscious tone which I found very exciting when playing these pieces for this recording.
These selections capture the energy of the concert program I presented during 2007. Prelude Nr. 1 and 1st movement of the Italian Concerto by Bach, Beethoven’s 1st movement of the Moonlight Sonata, Chopin’s Etudes Op. 25 Nr. 1 Aeolian Harp, Op. 10 Nr. 12 Revolutionary, Rachmaninoff’s Prelude Op. 23 Nr. 4 in D Major. To close the recording , the solo piano version of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” frames a program that raised the public on standing ovation at every concert.
