Harry was born in Brooklyn N. Y, the son of Harry and Mary Boyle. His Dad was primarily a truck driver, who dabbled in singing and playing the harmonica. Mom was a homemaker until later on in life when she became a secretary. He has a younger sister, Maureen. They both attended Visitation B.V.M. grammar school in Red Hook a neighborhood of Brooklyn that Harry has described as a small town unto itself
.“Everybody knew who you were and the older folks watched out for all the kids”.
After seeing Elvis Presley perform on television ,he knew he wanted to sing and play guitar to entertain people, so he asked his parents for a guitar as his birthday gift.
He went to Brooklyn Technical H. S., and in 1961, while in his senior year, he recorded a song called ”Baby Blue”, as part of “The Echoes”. It was a huge national hit, climbing to #9 in CASHBOX, and #12 in BILLBOARD, two magazines devoted to the music industry. This put him on television, including AMERICAN BANDSTAND, where he became the first left-handed guitarist to appear on national T https://www.tradebit.com’s appeared in the county’s finest nightclubs,including N.Y C’s famous COPACABANA. .He also performed at Carnegie Hall.
For many years Harry was a studio musician, appearing on records by Jim Croce, The Ohio Express and Ray Charles to name a few. He released a few albums in the seventies and eighties with his partner Colin Mc Rory under the name “RED HOOK” as well as recording a solo “New Age” album “FREE SPIRIT”in 1995.
He has two sons, Harry (H J ) and David with his first wife Nancy.
He currently lives in Estero Florida with his wife Darlene and still enjoys performing and recording with his current partner Jim Randall as “REUNION”.
He recently won an award for writing the song "Greetings From Fort Myers Beach" and plans to release a CD featuring that song along with some new songs he''s written with his friend Tommy Monahan.
