EASY LISTENING: Ballads, FOLK: Traditional Folk
An acoustic blend of violin, viola, cello, hammered dulcimer, dobro, guitar, mandolin, bodhran(Irish drum) and bass. All instruments played and vocals added were done by myself, Joseph B. Huck. After four years of part time effort I finally finished this solo project. Realizing that much of the old time music had potential for adding beautiful harmonies to the basic melody line, I decided to "go it alone" with multitracking and put together an album of what I like to hear...basic simplicity consisting a few solo instruments playing the songs note for note and adding harmony passages where I felt they added to the song. After many years of hard-driving bluegrass sessions I decided to put together an easy listening compilation of some of my favorites that I have experimented with over the last few years. Some songs are quite simple...the beauty of the melody speaks for itself. This album in itself is a tribute to Stephen Foster who was a prolific composer in the mid 1800’s and many of his songs we still sing today. A few of his more famous creations I have included in this album respectfully adding my own delicate harmonies which I feel add creativity to the song. So sit back and relax and enjoy the music of the Red Violin.
