As a Washington, DC resident and an alumnus of The Howard University, this Atlanta, Georgia native has been blessed to participate in many great projects and ensembles, including the Howard Gospel Choir; Daniel Austin & Divine Adoration, a former gospel group based in Washington, DC which has appeared on Bobby Jones’ Gospel Show on the WORD Network; GRAMMY Award winner Mya (Motown Records); and GRAMMY Award nominee and Stellar Award winner Kim Burrell. Kev.O is also a product of The Howard University’s premier jazz vocal ensemble AFRO Blue, which won two awards from DownBeat Magazine in 2003 and 2004, including one for “Best Vocal Group”, and has performed alongside artists like Ben Verene, Geri Allen, Nneena Freelon, and Ron Carter; Kev.O could also be found singing background vocals for GRAMMY Award nominee Mario (J Records).
Currently an active singer, songwriter, and arranger working on various projects, including his own, Kev.O is an associate member of The National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS), known for their annual GRAMMY Awards; is a member of the Association of Songwriters, Composers, and Publishers (ASCAP); is an instructor for contemporary (gospel, jazz, R&B, etc.) vocal professionals; and performs regularly with Reverb, the Washington Area Music Association’s “Best Gospel/Inspirational Group/Quartet” for 2006 and 2007, performing with them on several occasions for the Washington Nationals (MLB), Washington Mystics (WNBA), and Washington Wizards (NBA) games.
