Introducing...Melanie Dumas
A Vocal WhipStick And Southern Soul PowerHouse who knows how to bring it!
The singing arena is definitely no foreign place to Melanie Dumas. As with many other Southern Soul Singers, Melanie’s singing styles are structured on a foundation that displays a verity of influences such as Modern Jazz, Pop, R & B, Southern Gospel, and her all time favorite, those classic Southern Soul Ballads. The difference between Melanie and many others is simply that she does it all so well.
Born May 19, 1961 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Melanie established herself early as a vocal powerhouse while singing with the "St John Young Adult Choir" (Pine Bluff, Arkansas), and later with the “Young Voices Of Faith” (Dollarway High School). She subsequently proved to be a vocal whip stick when she became the lead vocalist for one of Arkansas'' finest groups, “New Image.” During her stay with New Image, Melanie opened for a number of Super Stars including Little Milton, Billy (Soul) Bonds, Shirley Brown, and Marvin Sease.
