Hello There! My name is Chad Smith and I from Greenville, North Carolina. I''ve been playing music for over half my life now. I started my musical whirlwind as a percussionist at the age of eleven. During my junior year of high school, I crossed over to playing mallet instruments which naturally led to the piano. During my senior year, I began taking classical piano lessons and continued through most of my time at college. During this time, I began to compose my own music in the stylings of landscape and mood instrumentals. Eventually, I developed an interest in recording the music. It began on a vintage cassette recorder that resulted in somewhat reasonable audio capture but nowadays I can do simple digital recording in the comfort of my own home. I normally compose music during moments of inspiration... or even at the oddest times. Some come instantly while others take a little more time. Some of my unfinished pieces are about seven to eight years old. Those stubborn little buggers just can''t seem to find their place… but I''m pleased to say that I have finished my first collection of original pieces titled “a winter’s day.” The music on this recording focuses its themes on the cold and sometimes somber winter season, thus producing a distant and melancholy sound. This particular recording is a special one for me because of its organic upbringing. Over half of the record contains the original, improvisational takes of the pieces. It all begins with a thought and the music suddenly begins to flow. This recording also includes the first piece that I composed, "snowbound," which dates back to 1999.
