Composer Olga Harris was born in Moscow, Russia. She began to write music as a child. She graduated from Ukraine College with a degree in Piano. She holds a Master’s Degree in Composition from the prestigious Moscow Conservatory, where she studied with the famous composer, Aram Khachaturian. She was his last student. Dr. Harris holds a Doctorate Degree in Composition from the Moscow Gnesin Arts Academy.

Mrs. Harris specializes in chamber music. She has composed three symphonies, Piano Concerto, two Quartets, four Sonatas for piano, clarinet, violin and cello, two cantatas, five vocal cycles, many songs and over 600 pieces for piano and chamber instruments. She has also written music for two animated movies and music for Drama Theater and TV. Her music was performed at many festivals such as Moscow Autumn in Russia, Russian Avant Garde in Heidelberg, Germany. She has also been performed on many concerts in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhniy Novgorod, Kiev, Riga, Germany, Spain and France.

In 1993 she moved to the United States where she continued her music career as a composer and pianist. She has performed a number of recitals including solo and with singers, Boris Burdin, Ludmila Korgavina, and Larisa Kholodnaya. She has lectured at Limestone College about Russian Music and performed at the International Festival in Colombia, SC.

In 2003 Dr. Harris had a concert of her music at the Gnesin Arts Academy and the American Embassy in Moscow, Russia.
She also presented a recital of her music at Vanderbilt University if the summer of 2004.
In 2005 Tennessee Philharmonic Symphonic Orchestra performed symphonic arrangements of Russian Songs by Olga Harris, with soloist Larisa Kholodnaya.
In 2005 Dr. Harris performed 3 concerts of Russian Music with soprano, Larisa Kholodnaya, at the Nashville Public Library.
In 2006, Dr. Harris performed her music at the Moorehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
In 2006, Dr. Harris had her Quartet for Strings and English horn performed at Vanderbilt University by musicians from the Nashville Symphony Orchestra.
In 2007 Dr. Harris performed a concert of her music with Larisa Kholodnaya at the Murfreesboro Arts Center.
In 2007 Dr. Harris presented a recital of her original compositions at Tennessee State University.
In 2007, Trio for Piano, Violin and Horn was broadcast on National Radio.

Dr. Harris is actively composing music in America. She has composed over one thousand pieces for piano designed for her method of teaching piano. She is teaching piano and music composition with her own method. She continues to compose chamber and orchestral music. After moving to America, her music has been preformed in Aspen, Colorado, Interlochen, Michigan, New York City, and Purchase, New York, Erkrath, Hamburg and Munich, Germany, Moscow, Russia and Nashville, Tennessee, Atlanta, Georgia, and Miami, Florida and Assisi, Italy.

Currently, Dr. Harris is a professor of music at Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. She was named Tennessee State Composer of the Year by the Tennessee State Music Teachers Association in 2007. Her music was performed at the 54th Annual State Conference of Tennessee State Music Teachers Association held at the University of Tennessee, in Martin, TN.

Her future plans include performance of her Piano Concerto at the University of Miami, April 2008 and at the Musica Neuva Malaga Festival in Spain in July 2008. Dr. Harris will have her music performed at two International Festivals in Moscow Russia. Dr. Harris also plans to perform a recital with soprano Larisa Kholodnaya at Tennessee State University.
