Paul Abro was born in Cape Town - the son of both a medical and musical family . At the age of six he requested guitar lessons and after two years of classical training - ("my teacher spent more time on the phone than in the studio with me !")- he gave up on the lessons and began turning his attention to writing his own music -Playing in bands throughout his school career - he eventually stopped playing at the age of 17 when he started his University career https://www.tradebit.comer 10 years in the USA ( Philadelphia ) - and having witnessed the birth and blossoming of MTV- Paul returned to South Africa- with his interest having been tweaked - to return his attention to his music talents - but it wasn''t until some years later - when he was invited to join a local band - that he began to explore his song writing once again .
In 2004 he released an EP - which enjoyed airplay locally and on the American College Radio https://www.tradebit.com latest Album has been a year in the making - layered and textured like his painting style - and embracing the paradox of life experience - both simple and richly complex ! He counts amongst his influences in his writing - Nick Drake , Van Morrison ,James Taylor , The Beatles ,Joni Mitchel,and Paul Simon .

From his melodic voice to the intricate bluesy tunes; not only will you find yourself lolling to the musical waves, you’ll, just as quickly, be captured by a songwriter who’s deeply personal. It’s storytelling at it’s best! Each track carries you along a path that at first seems a glimpse of his life, and then becomes a window into your own. It becomes an intimate journey, a soulful meeting that always leaves you feeling hopeful; that despite life’s lessons the world is still filled with promises and love. Don’t be surprised if you randomly find yourself singing to one of Abro’s tunes – he somehow manages to find his way under your skin, and leaves you feeling happy!

This has to be one of the best albums I have heard since The Art of Tea by Michael Franks way back in the 70''s. The lyrics are sublime, the songs beautifully constructed and they simply have an effortless flow to them. It is a timeless gem. I could wax lyrical for hours but suffice to say that EVERY single song on this album is a gem and nowadays that is truly a very very rare thing to find even on CDs by big names like Norah Jones etc. There are no throwaway songs included here to fill up space. If I could give it 100 stars I would. If you love jazz/pop or good music and good songs,your CD collection is incomplete until this is in it.

Not only is the music laid back and a great stress-soother but the lyrics in particular are soul-inspiring. All the tracks are a pleasure to listen to.
