Would you hear below 20 Hz and beyond 20 kHz? Would you hear synapses firing? Cells dividing? Genes instructing? Memes speaking? And what would this kaleidoscope of sound say to you?
''23 sec coma'' is based on a 40 minute improvisation recorded in Fall 2006, embellished in Fall/Winter 2007. The recording centers around the complex interactions created from analog synthesizers being driven by medical equipment used for brain research and muscle stimulus. Beautifully evocative tonal colors weave in and out suggesting there is nothing to fear from the realm of the unconscious. These organic textures are adorned with stringed and percussive instrumentation which together create a unique sonic tapestry.
