I''ve been playing guitar 18 years. I started playing seriously in 1989, at age 21 - kind of a late bloomer, huh? So that tells you how old I am. I am basically self-taught, but I did take some private lessons off and on from two different teachers in two different music stores over a 5 year period. I''ve been on my own ever since, just putting in as much time as I can on the instrument!
I''ve been teaching professionally for over 10 years. I’ve played in several local projects and recorded two original demos. Recently, I opened for The Little River Band, where I played a majority of the tracks from my new CD, Guitar with a Voice. I have about 55-65 students a week. They keep me on my toes - and challenged. I can honestly say that I learn as much from them as they do from me, I''m sure of it!
My goal is to get my "Original Instrumental Guitar" music out, promote it on CD, and live performances, and to find a sound set of musicians who also want to get out and perform with lots of energy. Sharing it with the public is what it''s all about, right?
“Guitar with a Voice” is my first attempt at letting the general public hear some of my original music. It''s a start! I really feel this is where my passion is. My creativity is flowing the most when I am working on this type of music. As you listen to each song, and the story I’m trying to tell, you will hear a lot of contrast in my style and approach.
I love to talk shop when it comes to guitar, tone, effects, and amps. I think the guitar is the most versatile instrument - period. It has an expressive “vocal-like” quality unlike any other instrument.
