Essra''s songs have also been recorded by Tina Turner, Peabo Bryson and Vanilla Fudge among many others. Essra was a featured singer on Schoolhouse Rock and she sang background for Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa, Carole King and John Mellencamp. E-Turn, the name of Essra''s band during the 80''s, stands for Eternal Youth, Eternal Life, Eternal Truth. The band members include original SNL drummer Daoud Shaw (Van Morrison, Etta James) and bassist Steve Beskrone (Ray Charles). The music is powerful and exotic largely due to the band''s imaginative arrangements, worldclass musicianship and Essra''s soulful one of a kind voice.
