Details:
261 shows from August 1996 to September 2000 and BOY KICKS GIRL did it with style, humility, and with tons of appreciation for all the fans. Their ultra snotty brand of aggressive melodic punk music brought them national attention in the underground punk scene and produced a loyal following of dedicated diehard fans. This San Jose, California trio steered away from the political correctness of the mainstream and chose their own route to success. With no record label support ever behind them they played relentlessly all over California and parts of the United States. Their success was always measured by the appreciation that the fans had for the band. The final showing of the fans support was the recent 2nd place standing for Metro''s 2000 Best South Bay Local Band poll. The name of the band has always represented "kicking" the bad memories of ex-girl/boyfriend''s out of your life.

A huge highlight of BOY KICKS GIRL career came in April 1999. They won the Levi''s Original Spin contest to play with Blink 182 at a show in Union Square in San Francisco. Playing in Union Square is a rare occurrence for any band. The public had over 60 bands to choose from to open for Blink 182 but when the votes were counted, BOY KICKS GIRL came out on top winning by a landslide. Over 4,000 fans showed up and overwhelmingly supported the band as they tore through their set.

"Public Display of Aggression", BOY KICKS GIRL''s second, and last, album released in October 1998, brought them to the top of their local scene and national recognition in the underground punk scene. "They''re catchy guitar riffs and sing along lyrics make you listen to each and every song all they way through," wrote Scott from Hopeless Society ''Zine. Recorded at Hyde Street Studios (Green Day, Dead Kennedys) in San Francisco, the band spent June through August 1998 recording, mixing, and mastering this 14 song, 45 minute balls out, in your face punk album.

Since their first show in a living room to a crowd of 7, BOY KICKS GIRL continued to please their fans with energetic and humorous sets. They continuously played venues throughout California, Oregon, and Nevada averaging 8 shows a month. In January 1998 and June 1999 they had the opportunity to tour through the southwest. In the summer of 2000 the band embarked on a 6-week national tour. The tour was a success based on the many new fans, friends, and unscathed van they still had when they returned home. They had the honor of participating in San Jose''s original SoFA Festival in 1997 - 2000. Some of the bands that they were able to share shows with include Tsunami Bomb, Next To Nothing, Luckie Strike, HBA, Blink 182, Good Riddance, The Ataris, Mad Caddies, Guttermouth, Dropkick Murphys, Bigwig, The Business, GOB, SNFU, DI, RX Bandits, A New Found Glory, Midtown, Goober Patrol, Beefcake, Jersey, Assorted Jellybeans, Pinhead Circus, Link 80, The Adz, and Electric Frankenstein.

In March 1997 the band put out their first CD "...or something like that". Recorded by the band in Brett''s room and at his brother''s house the band was able to distribute the CD throughout the country. This raw but straight-from-the-heart LP had a huge local success. Both the first and second albums reached top 10 slots on local music store sales charts beating out bands like Lagwagon and the Bouncing Souls. Local and national college and underground radio stations featured the band on their punk shows. At one time San Francisco''s Live 105 (105.3fm) put ''We Are The Now'' in rotation on their local shows. The top 40 punk songs on https://www.tradebit.com regularly featured their songs. Their music has been featured on a variety of released compilations put out by https://www.tradebit.com, Grub Records, Springman Records, Curly & Spike Records, Your Mom''s Records, Deafinit Records, the radio station Live 105 (San Francisco, CA), and many others throughout the world. The Live 105 compilation featured 21 of the bay area''s best local bands. This trio has played with some of the best bands and acquired the best fans throughout their 4 years of kicking ass.
