Newton has released a new collection of songs and instrumentals under one of his funky run-it-together titles:FENGSHUINSPIRATION. Feng Shui is a Chinese approach to achieving harmony with one''s environment. Proponents claim that it has an effect on health,wealth and personal relationships.
Personal relationships are a recurring theme in Newton''s music and,no surprise, they have a central role on this CD. Bluesy rock tunes like MINDLESS MANIPULATION and PART OF THE PACKAGE address the ongoing give and take of relationships. It seems a lack of relations may have been the impetus for MID-LIFE CRISIS.
Instrumentals get a major airing in this new collection as well. Opening with the title track, Newton layers sounds that seem to be borrowed from the orient. The new-age stylings of OETZI and CUT TO THE CHASE are complemented by an upfront keyboard sound in 000 that sounds straight out of the 1970s.
