Like all true blues man, from Robert Johnson to Bob Log III, the story of Chris Con Carne is full of heartache and despair. This genius has lived more in his short 22 years than most men will live in their entire lives.

The story of Chris Con Carne begins in a trailer park in the small town of San Angelo, Texas. The illegitimate son of an alcoholic mother and an abusive father, Con Carne spent much of childhood alone and impoverished having no friends other than the six string he stole from a pawn shop. By the time he was a teenager, Con Carne was living on the seedy streets, sleeping under bridges, and hanging out in bar that''d let him in. Eventually, with his guitar in toe, it was time to travel to a big city, a place where he could play his guitar and meet people. He decided on Los Angeles.

So, at the age 17, Con Carne was off to the mean street of Los Angeles. Begging and stealing along the way, one night he landed in Tucson Arizona where he sat on the sidewalk and started to play. As fate would have it, the legendary bluesman Bob Log III happened to be walking out the a neighboring bar. He was instantly taken by the dark slide style of guitar (much like his own). Soon the two were drinking whiskey and playing the blues. It was this chance encounter that changed Chris Con Carne from a poor, miserable drunk bluesman to a poor, miserable drunk bluesman with a national following.

After spending some time with Bob Log III in Tucson, Con Carne hit the road. Playing shows from the four corners of the US, he spent the next couple of years living the life of a bluesman. And in true form, by the end of three years on the road, Con Carne had developed a healthy addiction to whiskey. Needed a place to dry out, Log told Con Carne about little old Bellingham, "where people where always friendly, there''s lots of space and you can get yerself together there."

With that, Con Carne moved to Bellingham. Over the last year, he''s started giging again, playing the 3B and parties on occasion. He''s also added a drummer, Dan Lowinger from the Foot Stompin'' Trio. Not wanting to burn himself out again, Con Carne, prefers to lay low, just playing sporadically and working at the neighborhood record store.
