Back in the sixties when it seemed everyone was listening to the hits of the day, I was also listening to the instrumental albums the session players were making.
I do hope you will read all about the session guys on this album - their stories are in a blog at my MySpace site, their credentials would be too long to list here. Just click the MySpace link. Lawrie Minson, Pixie Jenkins, Peter Figures and Ezra and Demo from my own band, the Blues Cowboys. The combined experience runs from Australian bush-ballad pioneers to the latest international pop stars. So it’s no surprise that they all sound pretty hot on my psychedelic stuff, too.
It probably seemed like a radical departure at the time, but now this music sounds like the natural successor to the rock and surf instrumentals that preceded it. That’s how I was thinking when I was producing it, anyway.
