They say not to judge a book by its cover. Never is that sentiment truer than in the case alternative nu-metal powerhouse EVEN X. With riffs that are as a fluid as they are unapologetically heavy, air-tight grooves and raging vocals, the EVEN X sound demands a synergy among the players. While many of the band''s contemporaries spend their time bemoaning their existence, EVEN X paint a picture from a more honest palate, in which life is neither black nor white but a gothic shade of grey. There are moments of desperation, such as in "Angry Mirror," but they are countered by the more positive undercurrents of "Awake," thereby underscoring the delicate balance of our existence.
The issues that the band brings to the surface may not be pretty, but they are the ties that bind humanity together.
