Details:
"There is no compromise with Blues. Fortunately for the performer and listeners, if you love it whole heartedly it will return your love.
Guitar Ray is a musician who lives his Blues with the same passion and coherence with which he started out on his long journey along the path taken by the great Blues masters. His style is that of elegant notes, of sudden accelerations and dynamics which recount his own life story and his everlasting love for the Blues. His particular “groove” is authentic and genuine which is always required by the idiom and his many prestigious collaborations and performances in Italy and abroad confirm his artistic stature. Guitar Ray and his band The Gamblers make a Blues mission of their travels around the world. The Blues as played by Guitar Ray reflects everyday life and his fascinating nuances will grab your attention like a great photograph, a wonderful book to read, or a life-passion to be lived intensely."

Fabio Treves ( Blues Hero and Radio Personality )

“Poorman Blues” is the latest recording of Guitar Ray and The Gamblers, produced and arranged by Otis Grand, the “gentle giant” of the blues following the previous successful partnership for “New Sensations” the band’s first recording. The result of months of intensive work, of passion and attention to following the Bluesy style of the Black Masters, “Poorman Blues” offers a unique synthesis of energy, sensations and emotions. Albert King, T Bone Walker, BB King, Albert Collins, Freddie King, Otis Rush, Magic Sam are the reference points close to Guitar Ray’s heart which he naturally transfers to his music. In this recording, apart from the majority of the tunes written by Otis Grand and Guitar Ray, one can enjoy reinterpretations of classics such as Jimmy Mc Cracklin’s “One Track Lover” and genius Sam Cook’s ”Somebody Have Mercy” re-proposed in Gamblers’ way : lots of energy coupled with a smooth, confident technique.

Ray & The Gamblers vaunt vast international experience thanks to numerous partnering with top range artists such as Jerry Portnoy, Otis Grand, Sonny Rhodes, Jumping Johnny Sansone, Keith Dunn, absorbing their groove, feeling and involvement in live shows.

Ray is a hit with his deep and warm voice, a perfect fit for the role, and his guitar, often outstanding in intensity of tone and feeling makes the difference; one of the top highly esteemed Blues artists Ray took part along with his Band in the most important European Blues Festivals (such as the Spanish Tour, at Cazorla, where he accompanied the legendary Jerry Portnoy, harmonica player of Muddy Waters for several years and Eric Clapton).
