Lindsay May takes a “no slouch” approach in life and music. “My philosophy is that if you want to get better at something, you have to do it everyday,” says the Kelowna, B.C. native. After an encouraging opening set for international folk singer James Keelaghan and a spot in Kelowna’s Woodstock festival, the adult contemporary singer made the move out to Vancouver in 2004 to go head to head with some of the province’s best singer/songwriters.

With a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and shelves overflowing with books about the music industry, songwriting, guitar and more, Lindsay May is about to put the business in music with the release of her debut album, Bronze & Blue.

“I’ve worked so hard to become a better songwriter, taking workshops through the Songwriter’s Association of Canada, the Red Cedar Songwriting Camp, and with Bill Henderson and Roy Forbes, who selected me as a participant in their program for five straight years. It’s been such a journey to get to this point.”

And the journey doesn’t end there. For the past year, the songstress has been traveling back to Kelowna every other weekend to record Bronze & Blue with a noteworthy production team at Beyond Audio Studios. May co-produced the album along with Mike Ohman (Peter Mann and the Lonely), and sound engineer Steve Todd (Sue Medley). The team managed to secure a celebrity drum roster, including Kenny Aronoff (John Mellencamp, Rod Stewart, John Fogerty) and Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, the Odds).

Bronze & Blue is certainly a testament to Lindsay May’s determination and passion for music. A compilation of experiences in love, life and work, her satin vocals are complimented by a pinch of saucy and a dash of imagination. “The album is named after my song ‘Bronze & Blue,’ which is about cheating on someone while away with friends on vacation—something I’ve never done, but I got the idea and ran with it.”

Having already teased her audience with two celebrated demos, Bronze & Blue will grab fans with its melodic guitar grooves, drawing listeners into soulful, yet light-hearted lyrics. With its Sheryl Crow meets Sarah McLachlan timbre, Lindsay May’s captivating voice will either move you to dance or soothe to sleep. Either way Bronze & Blue ensures a night of sweet dreams.

The album is scheduled for release February 2008, and with plans of hitting up B.C.’s festival circuit in the upcoming year, May can’t wait to get her music out to her fans. “When I play, sing live, or have a great moment on stage, that''s when I really get the feeling like, this is what I''m supposed to be doing.”
