Details:
Thara Memory’s long-awaited CD, Chronicle, will be available as of Saturday, January 26, 2008. To celebrate the project’s completion and to promote the new double CD to the public, a CD Release Party will be held at Jimmy Mak’s on the eve of the 26th.

Chronicle is the most massive recording ever undertaken by Portland, Oregon trumpeter, composer, arranger and educator Thara Memory. Chronicle features Memory on trumpet, with more than 20 guest artists, including Israel Annoh, Stan Bock, Skip Elliott Bowman, Daniel Brewster, Renato Caranto, Marilyn Keller, Stevie Ray Mays, Warren Rand, Janice Scroggins, and many others.

The music on this double CD chronicles musical events in Memory''s lifetime, all the way from his earliest childhood playing at age eight. Eschewing hard and fast labels for his music, Memory prefers calling it "adventure" music. "All of these things are a part and parcel of my memory,” says Memory. “There are many things in music, in our culture, that have been lost, but I remember them.”

Chronicle includes 110 minutes of music with more than a dozen original songs composed by Memory, as well as compositions by local artists/composers Daniel Brewster and Margaret Slovak.

The CD Release Party will begin at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th and tickets will be $15 in advance and at the door, subject to availability. Many of the guest artists who appear on Chronicle will also participate in the event. Jimmy Mak’s is located at 221 NW 10th Avenue in Portland (503-295-6542).

CDs can be purchased for $21.99 at the show. They can also be purchased at Music Millennium and online through CD Baby at https://www.tradebit.com (pending setup).
