FAHIM SADI: Head Musician (Front Cover)
A radio station in Jordan provided Fahim with the start of his entertainment career. Then, beginning two years later, studies at the Institute of Music in Cairo, Egypt, added a firm foundation to his natural musical talent. Once established, his career led to movie and television parts throughout the Middle East and, eventually, to successful night club appearances across the United States.
The lure of Fahim''s music to amateur and professional belly dancers is widely known. His audience appeal is equally magnetic, testifying to his great skills as a composer and singer. Also responsible is his outstanding versatility on instruments of both the Middle East and this country (violin, bazooka, oud, piano, kanoon derbeke, etc.). Many are heard on this album.
SABRY ABDINE: On Tambourine
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Sabry began playing the drum and tambourine at the age of 12. He has been very successful with his music, traveling to a great many places over the years. A true lover of life, he expresses his view of it exuberantly: "I enjoy my music, I''m good looking and my whole life is music and women." Sabry is also an accomplished drummer.
MOHAMMAD FARAJ: On Derbeke (Dumbek)
Another native of the Middle East, Mohammad was born in Palestine. A musician for many years, he is a master of the Derbeke (drum) and has demonstrated his rhythmic magic in countless nightspots throughout both the Middle East and America. (Sorry we couldn''t get a picture of Mohammad for he had to be away as this album went into production. Anyway, he''s fantastic!)
NICK: Clapping
The clapping of hands is quite traditional with Arabic music. He was a source of inspiration and drive during our recording sessions.

A new instrument has been added here to the Middle Eastern sound.

Many people have asked how I acquired my name, Nefertiti isn''t it that s at the Institute of Music in of the famous Egyptian queen who reigned on the Nile 34 centuries ago? The answer is yes. It came to me quite naturally because of the near resemblance of my features to hers. Performing has been a way of life for me since childhood, I became an entertainer over 15 years ago, but not as a belly dancer. At the age of 10 I was active in stage shows, and by age 13 had begun gymnastics. My progression next into dance and professional entertainment was a most natural one. By 21 I had entered the world of nightclubs and dinner clubs, amidst the musical array of Jazz, Dixieland, Show Tunes, Top Hat and Cane, Latin, CanCan, Tarantella, and more.
It was only then that I decided to become a Belly Dancer. Fortunately, I was able to find two excellent instructors from the Middle East. Afterward came a period of working as a belly dancer in Phoenix night clubs and, finally, my decision to open NEFERTITI''S BELLY DANCING ACADEMY, PHOENIX, ARIZONA.
In the course of my career, I have performed across the United States from California to the East, including such places and events as Chicago, the World''s Fair and Expo ''74 in Spokane, and the 1977 STAR TREK Convention in Phoenix.
