As I sit Here in my room, getting wasted on cheep beer by my self blasting some Big L, (who by the way I just got into, and he''s sick with it) I think about R A P.
The Tropics Lounge was a long anticipated show for me, cause the last show I played was on December 23rd at THE SCENE, and I was itchin to get up on the mic and rock out with my cock out.
Its always kind of funny playing shows on Friday night, cauase I''ve been at work all day. So at around 12:00 pm I begin to think of the night ahead and I get HYPED. Subtle at first, but as the time passes I get more and more into it, until I get so excited about playing my set that I have to get absolutely destroyed or else I''ll kill my own vibe with my excess of energy….
I get off work, and I got a ride home cause my car is fucked….
So I''m in my room drinking on some PBR, listening to Big L with NICK PAX EAG KAL, and some other fools, including SHANE, the guitar player from JEWS AND MEXICNS…….HOT FIRE…..
So we were off and had to cram Rory and Amberley in the back of steve''s 2 cars for $100.00…..
As we rolled up at the club we kind of laughed at the huge PURE F''IN TALENT banner that was posted on the side of the bar….
Inside, some band was playing, and I think it was Motor Gun Hotel, who is pretty tight….We first heard of them from the Gallaghers show, which was, if you read the gallaghers blog, you know of…..
The atmosphere of the place was cool; sometimes you roll up in a club you''ve never been to before and its like ''who the fuck is this fool?'' But it wasn''t really like that, although I did get a few eyes on me, thought I think that was because I was wearing Adidas snap pants with a suit Jacket, hiding my Superman Costume beneath…..but that''s to be expected.
Also, sometimes when I''m gonna rock a show, clubs are all stingy with the drink tickets… it wasn''t even an issue at Tropics….I wanted beer…I got it…..with a smile…..thanks…..
I was completely trashed as I walked inside and out of the club, almost to the point where I sort of lost my balance….
Next up was VAGRANT VINNY AND THE INSTIGATORS who play 15 songs in 10 minutes, or maybe it''s the other way around….Either way, they kick ass!
I was up next, and I was feeling it. Tonight it was all about BIG TONE and GARY made sure of it.
I tore into the mic for Chain-link Fence, and I think I surprised a lot of people in the club, cause when they think hip-hop, they don''t expect it to be Black Flag….well bitches…RECOGNIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then I had some friendly crowd banter, including getting the crowd hyped up for the Nick Pax Eag Kal Song, by screaming,
"When I say Nick Pax, You say Eag Kal!" and getting fools to chant and shit. HELL YEAH!!
Then I broke out of clark kent and ripped into superman. The crowd was so hyped that during the choruses; as I was tromping around doing my thing, people were grabbing at me and cheering like I was a FUCKING ROCK STAR. Someone screamed into the MIC and jolted it, it bashed it into my mouth and busted open my lip. Dudes were rocking out and bro-ing down, and girlys were shooting me smiles. Nick Pax Eag Kal smashed his Cool KalBig Box into the back of my head! AWESOME!!!
Next up was Jews and Mexicans, who always rock the house, enough said!
