American in origin, Light – Elise Azevedo fell in love with Portugal during her travels and has called Lisboa her home since 1996. With her first double Cd Afflicted (2006) she claimed her place as a quality songwriter in Portuguese, as well as her native language English. A mix of contemporary folk rock to jazz provided the background to her honest, earthy presence and lyrics calling attention to the pain of those left on the outside of society. Her unique and powerful voice continually catches her audience off guard.
