NOTES - Here’s my debut CD! I used different elements of jazz, classical, Brazilian, blues, and funk acoustically.

BETTER THAN LAST TIME– Is about feeling good. That’s all!

SISTER EUNICE- Is about my early school days when this nun would hit me on top of the head with her knuckles to try to get me to sing. So the beginning section of the tune is Sister Eunice hitting me on the head. I relieve the tension by going into the song form. Sister Eunice comes back again with a shorter visit. I solo, repeat the melody, then Sister Eunice comes back and finishes me off at the end. Watch out for Sister Eunice!

IT''S MY DREAM- Is a tune about having control of a dream. No rules with this composition. I started with just two chords, then when I felt like it, changed the key,
then the rhythm. Imagine if we could change our dreams? Maybe we can.

SAY IT AGAIN- I’m not really a funkster, but I felt the need for this music to enter. I wanted to make this different somehow, so I added a latin bossa type bridge to it. Hope you have fun with this one.

EUPHORIA RIPENS- Is inspired by poet/author, Barry Wallenstein. It’s where poetry and jazz come together. I constructed the chords around his spoken word and meter.
You can hear another version of this composition I did with Barry on his new CD, “ Euphoria Ripens,” to be released by Cadence Records in April of 2008.

BLUE GEM- After writing Sister Eunice, this song just spilled out as if it were a gift. The melody, chords, and solo are all born out of the diminished scale with a fast waltz tempo.

CIRCLE OF GOLD- Is a ring! A wedding ring. I wrote this one for my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. Put in a little samba feel, added a little Miles and Coltrane modal touch, put in a turnaround and “Voila,” Circle of Gold!

BLUE MOONLIGHT- Is pretty much a bossa with a couple of twists and turns. As for its name, I just envisioned a beautiful woman dancing on a beach in the Blue Moonlight.
