Ward Morgan has been composing and recording songs for over 20 years. A multi-instrumentalist and unique vocalist with an impeccable ear for complex harmony. he was first influenced by the Beatles and other classic rock/pop bands and artists from the 60''s and 70''s. He performed in several bands during the 80''s, including stints as lead vocalist in Washington D.C.''s Senses Bureau in 1983-84. Relocating to Baltimore, he played in The View (1985-86) which contributed one of his songs "Only Water" to the Frantic Records compliation 8 Essential Attitudes. He then joined Red Tape, performing live all over the area and recording an album, Cooling Rain, which took it''s title from one of Morgan''s songs. In 1990, he released his first true solo album Subtle, which garnered critical praise and local airplay. Sporadic live performances followed but attempts at putting a proper band together to promote the album met with problems, so he continued to write material through the mid nineties, composing music for the WMAR TV2 special The Great Chesapeake Challenge 1n 1993. In 1994, he performed locally with the short lived group Salamander. In 1997, Morgan''s composition Hummingbird was included on the RPMUSA sampler The 3 Minute Revolution, followed the next year by The Hiding Place on the Pop Goes The World sampler - both songs winning glowing praise from critics. In March of 1998, Morgan''s music and art were featured on PBS television''s Maryland Day special, followed shorly in early 1999 with the CD release of Consulting The Manual, which included both Hummingbird and The Hiding Place, as well as 10 other songs such as the haunting keyboard-based Violet Days, the raucous rock of The Bridge Between, and Dream House, which recieved airplay on the french radio show Pop Dreams. Known for intuitive pop hooks, unique and introspective lyrics, and soaring, spooky harmonies, Morgan''s music runs the gamut from rock, folk, acoustic, alternative and experimental sounds. His newest album is Dreadful Tranquility, and 11 song collection of new material that includes some of his most beautiful songs to date. In March 2005, he was interviewed live on WRNR FM by Damien Einstein and previewed one of the songs, Lemon Tree Pie, followed by a show at the Ram''s Head Tavern in Savage Mill, MD. A new album is also in the works.
