MP3 Jim Malone - Malone Alone Red

New american acoustic alternative singer songwriter folk

11 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Alternative Folk, ROCK: Adult Alternative Pop/Rock

Details:
Jim Malone has been a songwriter since the age of six. And while his first song—Bourbon on the Rocks, sung to the tune of The Shirelle’s, Leader of the Pack—might not have been groundbreaking, it was the first of hundreds of songs Malone would pen as band leader, singer/songwriter and yes, cartoon producer.

Growing up in Springsteen country, the Jersey Shore, Malone witnessed the transcendent power of rock and roll at an early age. And though he was classically trained on piano through elementary school, he quickly moved on to guitar and performed with his first band, Hot Ice, at his 8th grade dance, bringing together, possibly for the first, and last time, the songs of Cheap Trick, The Knack, and Neil Young.

Since then, he has recorded and produced 6 CDs of his music, from the catchy grooves and strong melodies of his southern-based jam band, Left Exit—who toured relentlessly for a few glorious years, playing to throngs of adoring fans, in the days before Dave Matthews—to the alt-country band, Standpipe, based on New York''s Lower East Side, who enjoyed critical praise and a strong local following. Both of Standpipe''s CDs are still available on Malone''s website.

While in New York, Jim was hired to direct the voices for the children’s phenomenon, Pokémon, which led to a role as cartoon producer and contributing songwriter. Along with producing four popular cartoon series for Saturday morning television, he has written, or co-written, the theme songs for three Saturday morning kids shows, and scores of songs featured in animated television series and feature films.

His solo CDs include Stronger Than Silence and the Malone Alone series, which finds him writing, performing and producing all the songs. On Malone Alone Red and Orange-the first two of a seven CD collection he intends to complete over an unspecified period of time, Jim brings together many of his most-enduring influences—Woody Guthrie, Dylan, American Folk music in general, British and American rock of the 60s and 70s—and reinterprets them through the lens of a forward-thinking veteran of the rock and roll stage.

One listen to Red and Orange will reveal that this is not a rehash of the same old singer songwriter fare you''ve heard a thousand times, but a fresh take on American music and storytelling.

Malone lives in New York City where he continues to write, record and perform his music.
