J-roc ( Jean Menard ) was born in port-au-prince Haiti on Oct. 9th in 1986 right before his twin died at birth. He is the youngest and the only boy out of 4 sisters. The young MC spent 8 yrs without a father figure until the family migrated to the united states in 1995. Raised in Brooklyn, New York, He watched his pops play the guitar with his former band. At the age of 13 he began writing rap songs on his own and recorded his first demo at a local home studio in the neighborhood. Rather than following the music industry standard, J-roc deliveres a unique style where both his mainstream and underground fans can relate to. J-roc is currently on an independent label called Hoodzta Records, His latest mixtape album ( Streets is callin pt.2) was produced by Dre beats and brimstone ent...and will be release in march 2008. Interviews/music videos can be seen on Hoodzta ent...channel 67/34 cablevision/time warner on BCAT Television ( in all the five boroughs in NYC ). He is also being filmed for the first part of an independent movie called The Block debut in june 2008 along with his Documentary DVD ( produced by Production mindz ). In 2003 j-roc won best freestyling championship trophy in George Wingate High School judged by M.C Lyte, After graduation he found himself in a much better position which gave him more time to focus on his music career. J-roc was featured on Telemax ( miss video max in Haiti ) AnB videos, Micnifecent Tv on public access ( Bcat ), performed at club Speed, Pyramid, 411 in the Bronx ,92 in Williamsburg (Brooklyn) Club Moody-NY,The Ballroom Restaurant ( Hosted by Barry Mason from 98.7 kiss FM ) Down Shift Radio (an Internet showcase across the country). His previous releases were a Million Dollars Worth ( in Jan.2006 ), The Best of Both world ( in June.2006 ), https://www.tradebit.com R&B Singer/ and Roctoba Season in https://www.tradebit.com 2004 J-roc joined forced with Clifford Nazaire( Manager/Director ) and Guerson Joseph ( Assistant/Producer ) And created Hoodzta Records. Him and Clifford Nazaire met in junior High School and became close friends After being part of a rapping session called the Cipher. Guerson Joseph always believed that J-roc would be successful because of his talent and his originality. After hearing several tracks from the artist on an underground mixtape cd tittle "repetoire", he decided to help j-roc market himself. J-roc latest mixtape ( streets is callin ) came in mind when a variety of fans honored and complimented his talent with various voice messages on his mobile phone. He believes that this album will be one of his best project because as he grow, he experienced much more in life therefore his fans will be introduce to a whole different side of him. J-roc cites his Father,Will Smith, Biggy smalls, Tupac Shakur, Akon, Jay-z, Nas and the lox among his influences.
