Details:
In high school, Kasi (pronounced Kay-Cee) Calvin was the token white boy for his basketball team. One day he was dared by some of his fellow classmates to write a rap song and perform it in front of them. He took the dare and thus started his career as a song writer, except, he took it one step further. Using his dad’s vintage 1980’s DJ equipment, he recorded a whole rap album paying homage to his hometown, high school, and ummmm women parts he sooo enjoyed.

Kasi was a success throughout his school. He was elected prom king his senior year and was in a three year long relationship with his high school sweet heart. As college began, his relationship began to become rocky. She needed her space, he needed her, so he thought. In the end however, she broke his heart. He turned to partying nightly, drinking heavily and sinking into a hole from which he thought he never could get out of. He surrounded himself with family and friends and thought that maybe HIS side of the story should be told. After the breakup, he began writing night in and night out. Over 50 songs in two weeks he wrote. He abandoned his rap songs and poured his heart out into more blues and country-rock songs. He teamed up with his good friend and virtuoso guitar player John Strickland and recorded his first song: “Love ‘em All” about an encounter with one of Kasi’s best friend Jeremy Higdon’s 80 year old uncle. Story has it the song is based on a conversation just days after Kasi’s breakup with his long time girlfriend in which Higdon’s uncle told Kasi, “you don’t need just one woman in your life to justify your happiness, hell be like Jesus son, just love em all!”. Kasi DJed parties and weddings on the side to earn enough money to buy decent equipment and construct a make-shift recording studio in his living room.

As the money came in, Kasi kept writing and recording and upgrading his studio. Song after song. He poured out his emotions in verse and with the help from Strickland, extremely talented all-around musician and friend John Noski, with amazing violin and cello pieces from Brittany and Ayla Green they recorded, mixed, and cut “Class Act”, a 14-song opus of blues, country, and rock that will make you feel Kasi’s pain, laugh at his demented sense of humor, and fall in love with his vocal style and song rhythm. You can hear his pain in his voice, so take a trip down the road of revenge, revival, awakening, pain, love, hate, and let “Class Act” teach you a little something about what a man can do with a broken heart. Listen to his side of the story……
