Details:
Born and raised in the West Texas town of Midland, Matt Hinkley started performing rock music at the age of four on his parents’ coffee table, Scooby-Doo underwear being his exclusive costume of choice. After spending most of his childhood and teenage years learning seven instruments, playing pool parties with a rock band, and copying Metallica solos, Matt became convinced of his inescapable destiny to become a great actor. He moved to New York City in 2000 to realize that dream. It was only after committing years to the art of playing someone else that Matt discovered his true path to happiness was the path of the coffee table. Matt has reaffirmed his identity as a guitarist/multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter. His debut album of all-original material hits the streets on March 19, 2008.

Matt''s songwriting is influenced musically by the country, blues, and folk of Texas, combined with the straight-up, explosive rock ''n'' roll he was weaned on, and the tight songwriting style of classic artists like the Beatles. Lyrically, it''s all about the decisions, events, and journeys that make up one''s life, as well as the process of coming to terms with the fact that "when you reach that line, you cross that line on your own."

In addition to his own material, Matt continues his work as a musician, actor, and vocalist both in NYC and across the country. In the Summer and Fall of 2007, Matt acted as the assistant musical director, guitarist, and keyboard cover for Prather Entertainment Group''s national tour of Beehive: The ''60s Musical. Additionally, Matt music directs and provides guitar, keys, harmonica, and vocals for PreFab4, a non-impersonating, NYC-based tribute to the Beatles. Matt works as a guitarist and vocalist for Hank Lane, one of the premier entertainment booking companies in New York. Matt has spent many hours in the studio, most recently providing guitar for the cast recording of Alive At Ten, which won the 2008 Richard Rodgers Award. Matt also lends his talents as a lead guitarist/vocalist/multi-instrumentalist to rock, pop, and theater artists such as 2006 Jonathan Larson Award Winner Joe Iconis, 2007 Jonathan Larson Award Winner Robert Maddock, B.R.A.T.S. composer Robert Jay Cronin, Craig Wilson, Amanda Droste, Mat Leland, Joe Moore, and 2007 Nightlife Award Winner Lorinda Lisitza.

As a musician, songwriter and performer, Matt has traveled across the country to places such as New Orleans, Pheonix, Omaha, Wisconsin, and more, and he has played countless venues in NYC, including the historic Bitter End, Joe''s Pub, Mo Pitkins, Crash Mansion, Cutting Room, Lion''s Den, Ars Nova, R&R, and others. Most recently, Matt completed a sold-out, critically acclaimed run on guitar, accordion, and vocals for The Joe Iconis Rock ''n'' Roll Jamboree at the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Matt also recently provided guitar, mandolin, and accordion for the York Theatre''s Off-Broadway run of Triumphant Baby: The Songs of Iconis and Maddock.
