MP3 Pete Quin - Second Time Around

Contemporary folk meets jazz, with a little ragtime and just a touch of country.

10 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Fingerstyle, FOLK: Folk-Jazz

Details:
Pete Quin was born in Yorkshire in 1947 and brought up in Bridlington. When he was 17, he discovered the guitar and almost immediately took over running the town''s folk club.

However, further education beckoned and he went to university in Dundee where he was immediately persuaded to be the front man for the college''s folk club.

After concentrating more on the guitar than on academia, he was advised to go away - and ended up at college in Portsmouth. In 1970 he graduated with a degree in physics and, logically, became a full-time professional musician.

At the end of the seventies, after a decade of travelling to every corner of the country and playing to countless thousands of people (a few of whom apparently still remember him!), Pete chose to retire from the music scene in order to spend more time with his family, and built up a very successful new career as a freelance writer.

Pete was always hailed as a fine guitarist, and for many his own transcriptions of early piano rags were definitive. But his greatest love was always the songs, an eclectic mix from many decades, along with many self-penned numbers, all arranged and performed with the skill and style that made Pete so special.

A few years ago, Pete decided to return to the music scene, and audiences all over the UK are finding out what a fine singer/songwriter he still is, and the demand for recordings of his music is growing by the day.
