MP3 The Seventh Triangle - Hotel Vallejo

A jazzy folk-rock sound, colourful lyrics, killer arrangements, and "why it is made out-a bone."

13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Album Rock, JAZZ: Jazz-Pop

Details:
The Seventh Triangle are returning in 2008 with their latest release “Hotel Vallejo” on NewHatRecords.

Returning to their original format of Jason Peri writing all of the group’s music (except for the seven-second guitar introduction on “Make Me Appreciate” by Dave Tilton), co-writing lyrics with Tilton on the majority of the songs, and splitting the lead vocal duties. Returning to a format that began with their 1986 debut recording “Apart From Everything.”

Returning to the lyrical drumming of Scott Moreno, who joined the group on the 2001 CD “Diamond Bar” and was absent on 2003’s “TOWA.” Returning to lots of guitar solos from Peri (and two from Tilton), the kind that are imaginative AND kickass at the same time. Returning to Peri’s cinematically musical arrangements and pristine engineering.

Returning to what Brad Bradberry, twenty-one years ago in the independent music publication Option Magazine, called Tilton’s “wonderfully expressive (harmonica playing), reminiscent of the great jazz-pop player Toots Thielemans.” Returning to three-part harmony vocals.

Returning to an approach found in Peri''s "Lucky Numbers," the CD that Lee Prosser recently described in https://www.tradebit.com as “fresh, creative, and solidly original.”

Returning to songs about love and other weird topics: watching former Vallejo resident Sly Stone on the Grammys before driving a car to see a woman who lives in Sly’s old town; the legend of the Colter Stone and its eerie parallel with contemporary sports memorabilia; being bored and getting fat in “Dead-End Job”; a song celebrating the place where all of the people named Walter live; and “Window To Willoughby,” based upon a classic “Twilight Zone” episode.

Returning to your CD player or iPod with “Hotel Vallejo,” because you definitely want this music. It’s good stuff.

People who are interested in The Beatles Steely Dan Todd Rundgren should consider this download.
